Content Presentation
A decade ago, an early pioneer in the field of digital content created an online reading platform. Bookmarks, notes and comments that previous readers saved, could optionally be shared with future readers. And, authors were able to interact in real-time with their readers. It was a great idea, but was a bit ahead of it's time.
Now, most people do read online, and both audio and video are the most popular formats for content. Therefore, having the flexibility to provide content in print and digital formats, without having to negotiate with a publisher for the rights to experiment in the multimedia realm, is perhaps the most compelling reason to remain independent.
We Meet Again is an experiment in content presentation. There are many links to additional pictures and information about locations visited included in the digital formats of the book, enabling an interactive reading experience. Print versions will also be released, with links sustituted by QR codes, but the online and digital formats are expected to be more popular.
The ability to release the same material in different formats and languages, without being restrained by the traditional publishing business model, provides the kind of flexibility to authors that mirrors the reality of the digital era.
